It’s October and time to witness the great turkey vulture migration--and CALM is in the migration path! This annual event along the Pacific Flyway involves between 25,000 and 35,000 turkey vultures (Cathartes aura) flying in flocks of up to 400 birds. Take the trek for Ted 🦃 Guests travelling down into the Canadian Domain will notice a new resident. Ted the Turkey vulture has settled into his new surroundings, across from the upper Bison habitat. His keepers have noticed him stretching his wings and sunbathing. ☀️ Adult turkey vultures are very large birds with long, broad wings, mostly dark brown feathers and sharply hooked red bills. They are named for their distinct red, bald heads, which look similar to that of a North American wild turk
